Description

Raw wastewater in Refinery has lot of oily sludge type material and even after primary treatment stage such foul nature can be there. Conventional contact type sensors e.g. for Oil in water, ammonia, COD etc have failed repeatedly and manufacturers often blame the wastewater composition for this. Challenge is to protect the most sensitive Biological treatment unit from high oil high solid laden fouls wastewater by detecting in time, in case such wastewater gets carried over from Primary treatment units. For reliable detection a non contact sensor is being sought. Change in visual appearance is so sharp (please see the pictures attached) that a simple sensor like Turbidity sensor or even a camera with intelligence  to detect abnormal blackish appearance will be enough to alert operations.
