Every dollar and barrel counts! There are opportunities to significantly reduce the duration of turnarounds through deployment of proven technologies. Our experience is that a reduction between 10-40% is possible (and sometimes even more). The technologies that enable this reduction have all been used somewhere in the Oil & Gas industry, but have often not been replicated from one company to the other.  The boxes below summarise the steps that need to be taken to successfully deploy technology in support of your turnaround. Step 1 typically requires 5-10 consultancy days, dependent on the scope/complexity of the turnaround. Step 2 is dependent on the outcome of step 1, and on your needs.

  • As the Shell Upstream Global Process Owner for Turnarounds and responsible for the safety and overall performance of Upstream Turnarounds we saw that non-traditional technologies were critical enablers for our strategy of ‘safer, fewer, faster and cheaper’.
